We hadn't seen the Clear Lake area in years, so decided to take Hwy 20 east of Williams to connect to the coast on Saturday morning. The lake was full and I think we passed the place we stayed at when I was a kid, the Indian Beach Resort on the north side of the lake. Pretty cool.

Eureka's weather was heavy overcast and dismally gray. We walked to the waterfront downtown and 'experienced' the rich steel drum sound in the promenade. A fellow named Miles told us this was the end of their clean up Eureka day and they were celebrating: giving out t-shirts, hot dogs and a concert. He had a full box of t-shirts that no one claimed, so he gave us two of them! Thanks, Miles!

The old downtown is a mix of really old architecture and a few newish, as you'll see.
