Hoping for a crystal clear morning for a shot of Mt. Diablo with the Peltier Road line of poplars in the foreground, I was greeted with a nice, thick layer of fog - so I couldn't see most of the trees, much less the mountain! Off to Cosumnes Preserve for sunrise photos as well.

I was surprised to see California Quail for the first time. This young couple were pretty fearless, letting me get within 20' at first. I was on the concrete path on the east side of Franklin Road, and although the female was wary, the male didn't seem too concerned. After 10 minutes or so of staying still, I walked on a bit. When I came back, they strutted within 10' of me, so I was able to get some good feather detail.
