Beautiful morning on this President's Day. Patches of fog between Stockton and Cosumnes River Preserve burned off early. Not many birds on the lakes. I talked to one photographer who was here three weeks ago who said they were much busier.
I tried to be as patient and stealthy as possible as I got the egret photos. The red-winged blackbird and meadowlark just showed up really close to where I was standing, which surprised me.
The biggest surprise was flushing a pheasant for the second day in a row! But I was able to get a few shots off today.
