Today was the day to finish my bird counts at the Preserve. I was surprised by some sandhill cranes on the east pond at sunrise, the abundance of golden-crowned sparrows and bushtits. Pretty nippy cold spell started last night, so there was a bit of frost and my poor fingertips didn't like it. The deer I saw Saturday were hanging around the little meadow just west of the elevated trestle by the river bridge. The most fun was being able to shoot 3 Ring-necked ducks, a species I'd never seen before. I didn't take my heavy 200-500mm lens. Wanted to pay more attention to spotting birds.
