After hearing about the Mitchell Canyon Trail on the north side of Mt. Diablo, we headed west on horrible Hwy 4 to Marsh Creek Road and found the Park intrance at Clayton.
With almost 190 miles of hiking trails in Mt. Diablo State Park, you could spend many years exploring different places. Mitchell Canyon is one of the favorites, a 7+ mile loop that is sure to task your fortitude.
We hiked about 1.5 miles before turning back, extremely pooped and ready to head back to Stockton.
