Another lazy morning on the Boardwalk and summer is in full swing. Today is the Butterfly Count with two or three groups meandering the trails. I only saw one ragged Common Buckeye on the Boardwalk. The real treat was seeing a female Widow Skimmer dragonfly and hummingbird at the Visitor Center. Talked to the Coast Guard water safety gentleman, who was well versed in the use of kayak safety.
Lots (dozens/hundreds) of voles active just north of the Boardwalk parking lot. Many burrowed trails and much scampering. Extremely difficult to shoot, so the photos I took aren't worth posting. The egrets would have had a field day with them - but, alas, no egrets today.
