A bright, warm spring morning greeted fishermen, Asparagus Festival goers and photographers today as I meandered downtown to the Channel. The old Iron Works buildings have been around since about 1907 and have a great story to tell. I met Luke Salazar of Valley Turbine Services on Harrison St. who graciously led me on a tour through history.
The massive cranes, redwood supports, and old floor rails tell of a day when boats were fabricated. There are even Delta King wheel molds in the loft.
Thanks, Luke, for the history lesson and willingness to share your love for the past with me.
