The original A & W Root Beer joint was built by Ray Allen back in 1919 or thereabouts. In California. In Lodi, CA. During the Prohibition days, he created a saloon style bar, using cold mugs of his secret recipe root-flavored drink and called it Root Beer. It worked and became a success over the years.
The present building in Lodi (not the original) will be re-modeled later this month. The car hop area will be history, so I thought it a good time to record the soon-to-be old building.
