Once a month they offer a photo tour on the trails at Cosumnes River Preserve. I had never been on one and thought it would be fun to try.
Jim Dunn, a professional wildlife photographer, led the group (of one - me) a little after 9:00. After about 1/4 mile, 5 others joined us for an expert's perspective on the Preserve. Not a lot of photography, but great information.
I let the group go on without me about half way so I could do some 'wait and see' shooting. Birds, dragonflies and butterflies take extra time to stalk.
Thanks, Jim, for leading and sharing.
The Preserve parking wasn't open when I first arrived, so I drove up Franklin Blvd., then west to the Sacramento River at Hood Franklin Road, then south to Courtland, where they're having their Pear Festival tomorrow. Then down the river to Walnut Grove, then east to Thornton, and back to the Preserve.

Beautiful pictures, Dave. You're lucky to be close to all those great bugs.
