Didn't expect much today, but was surprised when I drove out Woodbridge Road to see the Sandhill Cranes. There weren't any. Maybe the hunters have spooked them out of the Preserve ponds. Then I drove a few miles north on Thornton Road to New Hope Road, which I hadn't seen before. Beautiful trees along the river and tributaries. Lots of vineyards and plowed fields. Not much to see on Desmond Road. And no Black-necked Stilts at the main viewing parking lot at Cosumnes Preserve. Two others were there taking pictures when I got there. Then it was home by 9:30 and digging roots out of the sewer line by 10:30. What a day to remember!
