When there are sirens blaring from both sides of my house, I figure there's something really bad going on. My neighbor Bill heads the Stockton Fire Hydrant Maintenance crew. Seeing him leave in a hurry and looking at all the smoke to the north, I abandoned lunch, grabbed the camera, and jumped into Ol' Faithful.

Five stoplights later, I finally parked near the blocked off street and locked the truck (this is a scary neighborhood). The corner volunteer custodian of traffic, Dave, asked me if I was with the newspaper. No, I told him. But I would be posting the pictures on the Internet, so he let me through. Thanks, Dave!
