With the wind blowing about 30 mph after a recent rain, we drove to Jackson for lunch, then south on Hwy 49 to Mokolumne Hill, where we headed toward the Gem Show on Hwy 26. Clusters of oak branches were falling from the trees, leaves flying through the air in front of us --- a real gale.

Wildflower picture taking is almost impossible when the wind is blowing, but patience pays off --- that and a few other tricks.

The Gem Show had over 200 booths, mostly canopied. A few days before 3 or 4 of them had been uprooted and sent skyward with a small 'tornado.' Most folks were holding on to theirs as we looked at their wares. Great day to hear all of the wind chimes for sale!
