A good group of avid butterfly chasers showed up for the annual count this morning at 9:00 at the Preserve Visitor Center. Nets and I.D. guides were provided as Kyle led us up the Wetlands Walk, then to the River Walk. The Cabbage White butterflies were in the majority of varieties, while Buckeyes were the next most numerous.
The many kids had fun capturing the poor creatures. Thankfully, none were hurt in the attacks (from what I saw).
Today is the first of the 100 degree plus days, so it was pretty boiling for the hardy group that stuck it out through the whole walk. Hats off to them! (I wasn't one, though).
