There were about 200-300 cranes this morning. Most had flown out of their ponds by sunrise to feed in the fields in the area.

Cosumnes River Preserve bird population was way down compared to last Saturday morning. Very strange. Hardly any black-necked stilts. No herons or egrets. Maybe 1/2 dozen species of duck and a few raptors.
