Bodie ghost town is a wonderful collection of preserved homes, businesses, churches, a school, gas station and gold mine. Although it takes persevering patience to travel the washboard road to get there, and although it's out in the middle of the high desert, and although you can't imagine anyone ever wanting to live out in the middle of nowhere, the remains of the town are still an attraction for history buffs.

The weather was just a little warm for mid-October, but we survived the 3-4 hour browsing. Don and I had a field day taking photos of most things. It had been over 45 years since I had been there, and I didn't remember much of the layout or great number of buildings. The state has done a great job in preventing further theft and preserving the remains.

Take lots of water.
